15 months after the application was received, the friendly folks at the IRS in Cincinnati have finally approved our application for 501(c)(3) status. This means that you may be able to deduct the value of your donations to Hack Manhattan on your federal income taxes—ask your tax preparer for the details. It also means that Hack Manhattan itself is exempt from income taxes.
If you are going to deduct donations, it would be a good idea to keep a copy of our exemption letter in your tax records.
